WWE Raw Results – June 13, 2011

- WWE All Stars Night on RAW kicks off with the pyro and music going off in the arena as Michael Cole welcomes us to the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York. Jerry Lawler hypes Steve Austin as tonight’s special guest General Manager. Austin has already made CM Punk vs. John Cena as tonight’s main event.

- We go to the ring and out comes The Miz in a suit.

They show clips from last week as Miz enters the ring. Miz talks about tonight’s big show and mentions how he won the main event last week on RAW. Miz says he is the all-time WWE All Star, but that’s been obvious for a long time, he says. Miz says you would have to be a stupid moron not to realize that. In other words, you would have to be Alex Riley, Miz says. Miz calls Riley a fraud and says he will expose him more than a tweet from Anthony Weiner at Capitol Punishment. Miz says he will teach Riley one last lesson before the pay-per-view. Miz tells Riley to watch closely as he calls out Steve Austin. Miz says there’s always an Attitude Era star trying to steal his spotlight, jealous of his success. Miz says Austin owes him an apology. Miz says his show will not get started until… the glass breaks and out comes Steve Austin marching to the ring.

Austin comes out to a big pop and hits the turnbuckles for the fans. Miz eyes Austin as he goes around the ring. Austin mocks Miz’s weak attempt at calling him out. Austin starts ripping on Miz’s look and what he’s wearing. Austin tells Miz to shut up. Austin says the night after WrestleMania, he let Miz run his mouth in this ring because he wanted to see what he had, if he was that good. Austin gives Miz some credit and calls him a silver tongued devil. Austin says when it came time to fight, Miz ran to the back. Miz tries to interrupt but Austin cuts him off. Austin tells Miz to keep his mouth shut while his is moving. Austin says Miz is going to respect him. Austin says he came here to run the show but he’s got an itchy trigger finger and if he’s got to stun Miz, he will.

Ramblings from Rio « aSingleBag

I wish there was a cohesive thread to this next post instead of a bunch of random observations from our time so far in Rio de Janeiro, but then again, I also wish it hadn’t been rainy, overcast and cold during the first three days here in this city known for its beaches. So here we go:

* Our flight from Santiago to Rio was one of the more terrifying airborne experiences I’ve ever had, and it all started before we even left the ground. During the course of getting our boarding passes, the ticket agent said she needed an emergency contact name and phone number before issuing our boarding passes. I’m sure it’s procedure, but there’s something unnerving about providing someone with your next-of-kin info before boarding their plane. “

     Shortly after takeoff, the pilot warned of some “possible” turbulence as we cleared the Andes en route to Rio. That “possible” turbulence ended up being some of the worst mid-air heaves I’ve felt. For roughly five long minutes, the plane bounced and dropped as though it were being tumble-dried. I looked out the window to my right – past a suddenly quiet Rachael – and saw the plane’s wing bouncing up and down more than I cared to ever see. It was then that it occurred to me that the true story behind the movie “Alive” happened somewhere in the same mountain range we were seemingly cartwheeling over. Obviously the turbulence eventually subsided, and we survived to fly again. But now I know why I’ve seen so many South American travelers cross themselves as our planes take off and land.

* In the short time we’ve been in Rio, the weather has kept us away from the beach more than we had planned, but I’ve seen enough to confirm a few long-held stereotypes about Rio’s beach dwellers.

     Firstly, every woman wears a bikini…regardless of age. And as such, it can make for some great or gruesome sightseeing. Same goes for the men, although the much-ballyhooed Speedo has given way to some longer, but just-as-tight swimwear (think shorter boxer-briefs).

     Secondly, anything you could ever need at the beach – towel, chair, suntan lotion, drink, food, bikini – is available for purchase while on the beach. That’s right…if you happen to forget a bathing suit – the one thing you need at a beach – there are vendors walking around selling bikinis on the spot. Included in their tall rack of bikinis is a small changing curtain, enabling any woman a quick, if cramped, wardrobe change.
