Couple saves baby bluebird: 5400 block, 16th Ave., Hyattsville, June 5. A woman reported holding a baby bird in a box in her apartment that her husband took away from kids, who were throwing it around and playing with it. She said the bird’s legs appeared to be twisted. An animal control officer picked up the bluebird and took it to a wildlife rehabilitator.

Vehicle runs over kitten: 4400 block, Allies Rd., Suitland, June 5. A woman reported that while backing out of her driveway, she felt a bump and discovered that she had ran over a kitten. An animal control officer picked up the 2-month-old calico female domestic shorthair, which was uninjured and did not appear to have been hit. The kitten was taken to an area rescue group.

Stray hound-mix dog: 177700 block, Milltownland Rd., Brandywine, June 6. An animal control officer picked up a 6-year-old black male hound-mix dog. When not claimed, he was transferred to a rescue group.

Pug rat terrier in red harness: 11700 block, Carol Ann Ct., Upper Marlboro, June 8. A woman reported holding a stray dog in her house. She advised that she had a dog of her own and did not want them to interact. An animal control officer picked up a 2-year-old tan female pug rat terrier mix wearing a red harness. The dog’s owner was located and both were reunited the same day.

Presa Canario running wild: 4400 block, Bishopmill Dr., Upper Marlboro, June 11. An animal control officer picked up a stray brindle Presa Canario that was found running at large in a man’s back yard. The dog was reunited with its owner the same day.

Snake in an apartment: 6000 block, Westchester Dr., College Park, June 9. A woman reported a snake inside her apartment by her patio door. An animal control officer removed the black snake and returned it to the wild.

Bowie pet adoption showcase: The Prince George’s County SPCA/Humane Society is sponsoring cat and dog adoptions, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at PetSmart, 4500 Mitchellville Rd., Bowie. The pets’ foster owners will answer questions and accept adoption applications for the animals. Adoption fees are $75 for cats, $180 for dogs.
