The Full Moon casts its spell over Dunn Hill 2 Speedway
The racing events from this past Friday night were sponsored by Ferrells Auto of Dushore. The evening's events featured a makeup feature for the Street stocks and a complete program.
The Street Stocks had a great field of cars for the nights racing. The rainout feature was the first race on the ticket. Josh Ames and Josh Morrow brought the field to the green flag. Ames grabbed the lead with Ricky Davis and Ben Hulslander adding to the three way battle for the win. Added to the mix of cars hoping to grab the win away were Bill Price and Bobby Maynard. Price took the lead away on lap 6, with Maynard on his bumper. A caution comes out after several cars get bunched up in turn two. On the restart both Price in the 48 and Maynard in the 29 were looking for racing room. This brought out another caution with both cars going pit side. The Price machine was able to continue after making the pit stop. This gave the lead to Jason Benjamin. One the restart the battle was tight and hectic with Ricky Davis and Ernie Martin back in the hunt for the win. With four laps to go another caution flew and the leader Benjamin had a left front tire going flat. Jason was able to hold on with the flat tire to capture his first win of the 2011 season. Finishing in second was Ricky Davis, but did not pass post race inspection, that gave second to Ernie Martin, Josh Ames was third, Bill Price was fourth and Bobby Hall was fifth.
The IMCA mods were the next feature up. Larry Colton and Eddie McKernan paced the field. When the green flag fell it was McKernan who grabbed the lead. Eddie had strong competition from Victor McNeal and Eddie Sites. It was a tough night for Ray McClure and Matt Sobiech with both drivers suffering mechanical problems forcing them out of the event. Victor McNeal was looking to pick up another win for the record books, but could not catch the 83 of McKernan. That gave the win to Eddie McKernan, with Victor McNeal in second, current point leader Eddie Sites in third, Shawn Bruce in fourth and rounding out the top five was Harry Ely.
Nineteen cars strong the Front Wheel Drive Class made their way on to the tracks surface. Kaycee Zawatski and Kory Lewis brought the field to the green. A fierce battle ensued between the top five cars. Kenny Underwood was in a borrowed car after his number 16 suffered mechanical problems. He worked his way to battle for the lead with Nick Wesneski, Mike Ely and Andrew Dorman. It would be Dorman who took command of the event. The battle behind Dorman between father and son of the Underwoods would have the fans on their feet. Add to that mix Mike Ely who was looking to capture another win for his records. Unfortunately for the drivers behind the Dorman machine they would have to settle finishing just that way. As the checkers flew, it was Andrew Dorman returning to victory lane. Rounding out the top five were Klem Underwood, Kenny Underwood, Mike Ely and Rick Sinsabaugh.
June 7th, 2011 – Sugar Ray Leonard | Colbert News Hub
I would like to hug whoever came up with the idea of a tap dancing Stephen. And if that person was actually Stephen, then so be it! As for The Word, I have just one thing to say: bravo, TCR writers. BRAVO. That closing line was beautiful.
The interview with Sugar Ray Leonard is a perfect example of Stephen’s brilliance and versatility as an interviewer. His ability to be charming, professional, admiring, serious, goofy, funny, and even acrobatic (more verbally, but yes, physically as well) all at the same time is awe-inspiring. And the thought of Stephen as a boy sitting with his mother watching a boxing match just makes me smile.
TIP OF THE HAT!
Sugar Ray Leonard was absolutely charming; hard to believe a guy that sweet and soft spoken is capable of hurting a fly. Every time I hear his name though, I think of the episode of Seinfeld where George’s boss gets offended when he tells him he looks like SRL lol. Oh and how freaking big are Stephen’s hands?!
The Word was brilliant as always. The idea of someone like Rand Paul being an elected official scares me a whole hell of a lot more than underwear bombers. And kudos to Scott Pelley. Keep up the good work, sir. May your sense of perspective inspire your colleagues.
And if I can just check in with our good friend Jon Stewart for a moment, he and John’s Weiner segment cracked me up. His poor hand! And I died laughing at Kristen Schaal’s 3 responses to penis pics. I don’t think she’s had a single segment that wasn’t spot on. *slow clap*
TIP OF THE HAT!
I’m glad you mentioned last night’s TDS opener, that was a pitch-perfect response to the situation. I watched the whole segment with a giant smile on my face and when John told Jon not to “be so Jewish” about his injury, I lost it and started cracking up. And a resounding “Amen!” about Kristen Schaal; I always love her segments. She’s just fantastic, period.
TIP OF THE HAT!
Ha! Yeah I loved that, too. The sidebar jokes that kept popping up [He apologizes to the intern who had to count the c*** jokes] were freakin’ hilarious as well. Is it weird that I was kind of hoping John Oliver would at least host through the first segment? It would have been interesting to see his delivery style while sitting in the big boy chair. Jon’s such a trooper though; I’m sure he’ll make another joke about his hand in the opening of tonight’s episode.
